‘It’s Worse Than Imaginable’: Tamar Braxton Opens Up with How She’s Coping with Death Following the Losses of Her Sister and Niece

Tamar Braxton is mourning the losses of her sister Traci Braxton and her niece Lauren Braxton.

Lauren, who passed away in April 2019 at 24, was the daughter of Michael Braxton Jr. At the time of Lauren’s death, it was reported that she suffered from a heart condition. In June of that same year, Lauren’s cause of death was revealed to be a heroin overdose and fentanyl intoxication.

On March 12, 2022, the Braxton family confirmed in a joint statement that Traci passed away following a battle with esophageal cancer at the age of 50. News outlets reported that Traci had been battling the disease for about a year following the statement.

In an Instagram post shared on April 29, Tamar opened up about the motions of grief. In the clip, the “Love & War” singer — who is in Maryland for a scheduled performance — expressed she was having a “sad day.”

While slightly mentioning her upcoming show, Tamar said, “I’m having a kind of sad day today. I’m trying to shake it, but that’s grief. And I was talking to my therapist, and I was made aware that this is the healthy side of grief. Sometimes you have good days. Sometimes you have bad days. You allow yourself to feel, and you move forward, so I will see you guys tomorrow.”

Alongside the clip, Tamar admitted in the caption the factors contributing to her sad day, including being in her hometown and not having her sister and niece around. She wrote, “As a child I remember wondering how my relationship with death would be like I was always afraid of the feeling. I was WAY off.”

The 45-year-old added, “It’s worse than imaginable. @lolobrax it’s been 3 years and we miss you like it was yesterday… and my @therealtracibraxton I’m in disbelief all over again. How can I be home in DC and you not be here… like NEVER coming back. I can’t even call you.”

As fans viewed Tamar’s upload, many sent love and well-wishes to the singer.

“Sending you LOVE, Queen!”

“So sorry for your losses. Praying for peace God got you.”

“I’m so deeply sorry for your loss.”

“Praying for you Sis. It never gets ‘easy.'”

This post comes almost two weeks after Tamar made her first public appearance on “Dish Nation” following the loss of her sister Traci.
