Sherri Shepherd is set to return to her guest-hosting duties on “The Wendy Williams Show” for the rest of the week following an emergency surgery she had to have on her appendix on Monday, Dec. 13.
She was originally scheduled to be the guest host from Dec. 13 to Dec. 17, but due to the emergency appendectomy that she needed to have, Michael Rapaport stepped in to host the show for her on Monday. Later on that afternoon, a video of a smiling Shepherd went up on the Wendy Show Instagram page to update fans on her health.
Still lying in the hospital bed at Bellevue Hospital, Shepherd explained how the surgery came about. “I don’t know where it came from,” she said of pain she experienced, signaling something was wrong. “All of a sudden I was in a great deal of pain. I came in here to get some Metamucil, and they said we have to take out your appendix right away.”
The comedian in her couldn’t end the video without letting off a few jokes. She first joked about going into surgery with a wig, but waking up without it. She said, “I came out bald-headed looking like Ludacris, but we have found my wig.” The 54-year-old also had a hilarious complaint for the hospital staff.
“I kept asking her if they can give me liposuction at the same time. Or at least reduce my breast. If you gon’ be in my body take something away. But I woke up, my rest was still here, my stomach was still here. So I just need to talk to the head of Bellevue.”
Tuesday morning, another video went out of the actress waiting backstage of “The Wendy Williams Show” and saying a prayer before doing her strut out on stage to greet the audience. Fans showed her some love in the comments section after seeing her return.
“Blessings to you, Sherri Shepherd best guest host ever. I hope you get your own show you deserve it,” wrote one. “She belongs on this show ! Give it up for queen Sherri,” said another.
They also continued to send well-wishes to Wendy, who has been experiencing health complications from COVID-19 and Grave’s Disease. “Wendy get well soon miss you,” said one fan, and another wrote, “Get well soon Wendy. The show is in great hands today. Much love to the Show.”
