‘Joc You Were Just Being a Father’: Yung Joc Explains Why He and His Son Got Into a Physical Altercation on ‘LHHATL,’ Fans Show Support

Yung Joc addressed the heated altercation between himself and his son Amoni Robinson, 20, on Aug. 24 during an Instagram Live.

The fight appeared on a recent episode of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” that was filmed back in 2020. The father and son were at odds over Robinson’s involvement with a particular friend that caused Joc’s club The Venue to shut down. The Venue was closed down back in November 2019. The reason behind the club’s closure was because a shooting incident occurred after the unnamed friend became physical with a security guard. The incident ultimately left two security guards wounded.

Joc spoke about the clip during his “Streetz Morning Takeover” radio show after it went viral. He said he didn’t watch scene on television, but fans should know his faceoff with his son wasn’t immediately volatile. “I didn’t see the scene. I saw the scene that was on social media. I didn’t see the whole scene so I don’t know if it showed more. But we was calm for a long time. We were calm for a very long time having a discussion.”

He shared that Robinson’s initial motive in their enocounter was to apologize about what transpired.

“My son came to apologize, so I was open to that. It takes a man admit when you’re wrong or to be able to say, ‘Hey, I don’t mind expressing my humility.’ We both got carried away as men, you know we gonna honor each other and continue to put loyalty first, you know what I’m saying. That’s how it started.”

The rapper admitted things quickly escalated after the 20-year-old appeared to be nonchalant about the entire situation. “But then it kind of got to the point where like, ‘Man, I’m grown, I don’t want you telling me when I’m wrong.’ I was like ‘what?’ It was the bucket for me, you know what I’m saying?”

The “LHHATL” star went on to recount some of the trauma’s he experienced throughout his lifetime including the violent death of a nephew he did not mention by name. “We went there, man. Some of the traumas that I dealt with just last year was too much man.”

He continued, without disclosing the date of his nephew’s passing, “Talking about right there, a few feet away while we were talking, lose my nephew right in front of the club. ’Cause some knucklehead decided he wants to have a shootout. I witness that. “

Joc then described what happened that day when he went to go “count money” after talking to his nephew. “I walked away from nephew like, ‘Hey, man, I love you, man, you what I’m saying? We good.’ I walked away to count some money before, you know … I hear everybody screaming ‘there’s a shootout outside.’ By the time I look back at the camera I see the guns flashing. By the time I get to the front of the club my nephew laying there lifeless.” He also said at that moment he had to hold his nephew’s father up while he watched his son cut down by gun violence.

The reality star claims the sole reason behind his frustration with his son was because after the first shooting another one happened inside the club. Despite recounting both incidents, Joc never provided a timeline for when the shootings occurred. He said, “then you turn right away around that happens on the interior of the venue.”

Joc explains the indoor shootout happened because of an unidentified “young man” — who is Robinson’s friend — hit a security guard, which ultimately lead to two security guards being shot and wounded. He also shared that when the incident happened the club was closed but people alongside the two security guards and Joc’s family members, including his son, were still working.

When the father-son addressed the issue, Robinson felt like his friend wasn’t at fault because he didn’t shoot anyone, although the said friend initiated the fight by throwing punches first. As time passed after that shooting Joc stated the final straw for him was when he heard that Robinson was hanging out with the friend that ultimately caused his club to shut down.

As Joc’s explanation began circulating on social media many fans praised him for trying to be the best father he could be.

“No need to explain. That was a needed father son moment.”

“Every parent or aunt/ uncle feels you baby! That scene was PURE LOVE & needs NO explanation! ❤️”

“Joc you were just being a FATHER!!! We’re not mad at you 👏🏽👏🏽.”

“He did what he supposed to 💪🏾 love to see it.

“He shouldn’t have to explain nothing that’s his son!
