Fans are buzzing over word from Damon Wayans after he shared that he’s up for a comedy-style “Verzuz” with fellow comedian Dave Chappelle. Wayans seemingly challenged Chappelle when he appeared on the morning radio show 97.9 The Box in Houston, Texas, on Friday, Aug. 13.
Wayans was not familiar with “Verzuz,” and the The Box hosts filled him in and asked who he would battle if he were to do a comedy-style “Verzuz.”
“Do they do comedians?” asked Wayans.
Wayans changed television along with his brother Keenan Ivory Wayans with his ground-breaking and hilarious sketch-comedy show “In Living Color.” The show with a mostly Black cast was one of the most popular shows on television in the 1990s. It also launched the careers of several of Wayans’ siblings, as well as Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carrey, David Alan Grier, Tommy Lee Davison and Jamie Foxx.
In 2001, Wayans created his own show “My Wife and Kids” which was a family sitcom that lasted five seasons.
While fans are all for it, as of yet, there is no official word on a “Verzuz” between Wayans and Chappelle.
