Four days after it was reported that Keyshia Cole’s beloved mother, Frankie Lons, passed away, the singer has returned to social media to honor her mother. While celebrating her 61st birthday, Lons reportedly overdosed on drugs in her Oakland, California, home on Sunday, July 18.
In commemoration of her mother’s life, Cole uploaded 10 photos of Lons pictured with her and a few of her other close family members, including Cole’s sister Neffeteria Pugh, her brother Sam, and her two children, Daniel Gibson Jr. and Tobias Khale, and a few other unidentified individuals.
“This is so hard man,” wrote the “Heaven Sent” singer. “Can’t really even find the words. SMH. I honestly don’t even know how to feel. You can never prepare for something like this… Ever!!! but you will be missed.” Cole went on to say that for weeks now she has been randomly “quoting” her mom and using some of her unique lingo.
The 39-year-old continued to describe her mother as “Naturally so funny” and said, “that’s what I loved about your personality…. we all did. I created this post to show my love and appreciation for your life and I would like to thank my fans + supporters, shooot your supporters and fans, for being here with us during these hard times, and the love that you all have for us…..the love for all your children was definitely felt.”
In the end of her message, Cole said she would fulfill her mother’s last wish for her, which was to have her family all together. She said, “When u said all you want is to have ALL OF YOUR CHILDREN IN ONE PLACE, AT ONE TIME meant the most to you, And I’m completely down to do that for you. Even through our differences …. WE LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Frank da bank.”
Cole also went Live on Instagram Thursday night, remembering her mother with her family members. They toasted and promised to “keep it lit” for Lons.
Lons had been battling her drug addiction for decades and some of her journey was documented in their multiple reality television series called “Keyshia: The Way It Is,” “Keyshia Cole: My New Life” and “Frankie & Neffe,” which was a spin-off series focused on Lons and Cole’s sister Neffeteria.
