This past Valentine’s Day, actor Michael B. Jordan might have won the best boyfriend award after renting out an entire aquarium for his girlfriend, Lori Harvey.
In a recent snippet of an unreleased interview with sports journalist Jemele Hill for her podcast “Jemele Hill is Unbothered,” Jordan explains what made him decide to go all out on his first Valentine’s Day with Harvey. For many people, this gesture has never even been heard of before. To get Jordan’s thoughts on why he did it, Hill jokingly asked “why would you ever set that kind of standard?”
Jordan charmingly responded, “I had a lot of pent-up romance. I wasn’t able to do a lot of those things in the past. So it was fun. I’m a creative guy.” The “Creed” actor also threw in an additional factor behind it all “That was kind of on the fly.”
With the nation still facing the COVID-19 pandemic, many places were either still shut down, slowly reopening or opening with great caution to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. According to Jordan, this left him with limited options on what to do for the day marked for love and romance. He said, “you had to be even more creative because there wasn’t a lot of things that was open. The circumstances of a lot of things kind of forced me to be kind of a bit of a thinker on that one.”
But Jordan acknowledged that he might have bitten off more than he could chew with his gift. He said, “I kind of put myself in a tough situation because now I got to think about next year.”
This relationship for Jordan, 34, makes for the first public relationship he’s had. Harvey, on the other hand, who is comedian Steve Harvey’s stepdaughter, has been rumored and confirmed to be romantically linked to a few men. Although she keeps the details of her relationships private, she’s definitely posted pictures with a past boyfriend before. There were times she may have attempted to keep her relationships on the low, but paparazzi has exposed her on a romantic getaway or at a party or walking the streets with a rumored boyfriend.
In an interview with Bustle last month, the 24-year-old model touched on why she felt comfortable with being public with Jordan. She said, “I think this was something that I just decided to be a little bit more public with because it’s a more serious relationship.”
