Tamar Braxton had a self-revelation and shared her moment of clarity with fans on Instagram.
The 43-year-old “Love and War” singer surprised many when she took responsibility for issues in her life that she’d previously blamed on “everyone else.” “For a long time I thought it was everybody else…the problem was me. 🤷🏾♀️#stayunderconstruction,” she wrote in a message posted to her Stories on Jan. 27.
Although the reality TV star didn’t go into specifics about who was included in “everybody” and which issues she feels she could have handled differently, there certainly are a plethora of both people and situations that she could be referring to — from her fallout with her “The Real” co-hosts following her leaving the talk show in 2016; to her public issues with her sisters, ex-boyfriend David Adefeso, and We TV, the network that airs “Braxton Family Values” and more recently “Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!”; and everything in between.
Braxton has appeared to turn over a new, much more grounded leaf following her purported suicide attempt last July, and she invited her fans to follow along with her self-care and self-awareness journey on her podcast “Under Construction” referenced in her post’s hashtag.
“I’ve started a podcast Tht is dedicated to my new self on a journey to be my BEST self and I want to take you all with me on this ride ❤️ there is No MORE reality foolishness but the fun, singing, sister-girlfriend Tamar who you don’t know and who is up front and honest about my struggles. Come join me to laugh, cry and relate to each other while we get better and better together. We all are not perfect and we all are UNDER CONSTRUCTION,” the post said.
Fans’ responses to Tamar accepting accountability for her actions ranged from support to wondering what took her so long to come around.
“Accountability leads to growth. So yes very proud, a lot of us could learn this when healing properly.”
“👏👏👏👏 once we realize this you can only get better and better!!! ❤❤”
“Yes it was! I’m glad you’re realizing”
“Better late than never but we already knew this. Proud of the accountability. I do think that there are situations where people around her have wronged her though.”
“It’s lowkey about time ! I love her but I can’t stand somebody who ain’t never wrong.. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️❤️❤️ we love you and support you queen @tamarbraxton”
Braxton is still going to speak her truth as she grows, however, and fans can stay tuned to her podcast for the tea.
