‘We Ready for This Dub Boo’: Ashanti Got Fans Excited for Upcoming Verzuz Battle with New Video

Ashantis fans were exhilarated on Jan. 18 when she shared a video wearing a Verzuz T-shirt, including the logo and photos of both Ashanti and Keyshia Cole days ahead of the competition live stream series. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Jan. 21. 

Ashanti, who donned the look with gold accessories, glared into the camera while jamming to DaBaby’s hit song “Nasty” featuring the singer and Megan Thee Stallion. The 40-year-old captioned the clip, “U know da vibezzzz 😜.” Fans expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming battle against Cole after the series was previously postponed for the second time following the rise of COVID-19 cases.

After the songstress uploaded the initial recording, Verzuz’s official Instagram page released a compilation of Ashanti’s videos as a promo for the upcoming battle. In the caption, Verzuz also included the time and date.

“They say the Verzuz battle ain’t official until the promo drops!
So, NOW it’s official. 💥💥
See you on Thursday night at 5pm PT/8pm ET for this highly-anticipated, epic showdown between these two legendary R&B divas.”

The promo made fans reminisce of a time when Ashanti was dubbed the Princess of R&B. One fan wrote how the singer has the competition in the bag.

“Ashanti got real credentials. She got this in the bag. Much love to Keyshia tho!”

“Omg, I’m ready. Ashanti music makes me miss the old days.”

Another said, “I forgot how many bangers Ashanti has 👌🏿”

An Instagram user acknowledged how Ashanti reigned in the early 2000s. “The Ashanti era was crazy 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾.”

Verzuz originally scheduled the highly anticipated battle on Dec. 12, 2020, but was forced to cancel after Ashanti contracted the COVID-19 virus. The event was pushed to Jan. 9 before the second cancellation.
