It’s been a minute since fans have heard from “Black Ink Crew: Chicago” star Don Brumfield. The last time the show aired, the reality star experienced some marital issues with his wife Ashley Pickens that found the two arguing over their kids and living in separate homes.
Well, it appears as though the drama has calmed down and the actor has been focusing on his health and body transformation. The 33-year-old had even gotten into bodybuilding.
On Sunday, Nov. 15, Brumfield took to his Instagram page and shared in a series of posts about his successes in a recent bodybuilding competition in Nashville, Tennessee. The star, pictured holding up two awards, thanked his family for supporting him throughout his fitness journey.
“This is only the start. I can’t thank my family for being so supportive of me wanting to do something that makes me happy,” Don captioned the lengthy post. He added, “To be passionate about something comes with a different dedication. Best part for me is having family truly be there to want to see me not only attempt to win but truly grow as a man and just be happy with my self.”
Don tagged several folks, including his wife Ashley, as he reflected on how grateful he was to have their backing. “I love all my friends and family who truly been supporting me to get this show on the road. Now the bus has left the station time to keep the show on the road. #NMOL #BLESSED.”
In another post, Don was spotted posing next to another competitor, Mathieu Lekina, as he revealed that he placed 2nd and 3rd in two separate divisions. “Yesterday was fun and showed me what I have the ability to do when I have confidence in myself,” He captioned the gallery. “For it to be my first show ever to land in 2nd place in men physique and 3rd place in classic out of 14 competitors was the spark I needed @gorillaseason and @matlekina let’s get back to work.”
Shortly afterward, the reality star shared a clip of himself in the gym exercising and practicing his poses just hours after competing. “No breaks back to work,” he wrote. “Sh-t don’t stop until mission complete 4 weeks out from vegas @gorillaseason @paulie_swollz let’s turn up #NMOL #apexlifestyle #teamswollz.”
Fans were blown away by Don’s new look and expressed how impressed they were by his hard work and determination, including one fan who wrote, “Awesome congratulations Bishop Don in all your accomplishments proud of you keep it up 💪🙂.”
Another user commented, “Back on the grind! ✊🏽✊🏽 Congrats again for placing at your 1st show!!! 1st place coming!!!.”
“I would say good luck on your next competition, but you got this in the bag. Congratulation,” a third person commented.
