‘Lip Injections?’: Masika Kalysha Fans Notice Something Off-Putting with Her Face After They Zoom In on Her Mouth

It seems fans have questions about Masika Kalysha’s appearance.

The former “Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta” star took to Instagram on Saturday, May 30, and shared a video that showed her getting glammed up for her upcoming music video. The clip showed the bombshell wearing bright red ringlets and a bold, dramatic makeup look. She also donned a Chicago White Sox hat and red bandana.

“There we go. Final shot, the martini shot, and I need a martini after this day, okurr?” Kalysha said in the video. She added in her video caption, “That’s a wrap on #cappin Video premieres onna real niggas bday 6/7.”

Her post triggered mixed reactions from fans, some of whom apparently noticed something different about her looks.

“Lip injections?” a fan asked, while another person exclaimed, “She’s beautiful but yes that top lip is injected!” A third Instagram user wrote, “She looked better without them lips.. What wrong with these women…” A fourth chimed in, “I knew something was off about her mouth. is them over size lips smh”

Kalysha is no stranger to criticism.

Last week, the single mother of one defended herself against critics who called her body botched. In a May 27 Instagram post, she flossed her hourglass figure on camera, wearing a thong and crop top. Her get-up exposed her curvaceous figure, which some Instagram followers took issue with.

“What’s really crazy is you actually have a pretty face yet some insecure way along the road you still did get lipo 😂😂 and didn’t follow up with your massages … Which is why your stomach looks hard and tainted,” one person wrote. A second said, “When you get lipo, you need to make sure you get all your massages in! Fibrosis is real. Her stomach looks crazy asf😂”

When a third person accused Kalysha of having two Brazilian butt lifts, the television personality fired back, “Damn how you get 2 bbl’s 😩😂 when did I get all these procedures nurses jealous much? Whew y’all be sooooo f–king mad 😂”

Despite the negative remarks Kalysha receives, there are several fans who still shower her with support. Someone wrote on her May 30 post, “Loveeeeee this look…. just beautiful…. 🔥.” Another said, “❣️You are GORGEOUS….as ALWAYS”

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
