‘What Kind of Pushup Is This?’: Keyshia Ka’oir’s Workout Post Derails After Fans Say She Doesn’t Know How To Do a Pushup

Keyshia Ka’oir takes her exercise game extremely seriously, and she seemingly wants everyone to know it. The former Miami video vixen has openly talked about her struggles with maintaining a healthy weight. She underwent a major lifestyle transformation a few years ago by intensifying her workouts and incorporating more fruit and vegetables into her diet.

One of Ka’oir’s main missions is to inspire people to live a healthier lifestyle. The 35-year-old model often posts her workouts on social media to encourage her followers to stay active.

Ka’oir posted a video to her Instagram page on March 26 that demonstrated her multiple at-home exercises. The video began with the social media influencer performing pushups. As the video progressed, the star completed her barbell exercises, and then she finally removed her black-and-pink Keyshia Ka’oir thigh eraser from her buttocks.

Ka’oir revealed in the video that she had put on “quaratine weight” since being in her house and she was working hard to drop the few pounds that she’d gained. However, this workout post in particular seemingly backfired after fans called her out for not knowing how to correctly do a pushup.

“Giiiirl you needa bring your arms closer to your body before you hurt your shoulders 🥴,” one user wrote.

In response to the first comment, a second fan said, “That’s exactly what I was thinking 😂.”

A third fan jokingly said, “Waiting for that wig to hit the floor😭.”

“Girl what kind of pushup is this? You look amazing though😍,” a fourth user commented.

A fifth fan said,”You make those workouts look soo easy.”

“This is why her husband looks like a pro athlete now 💯💯💯,” a sixth explained.

“I love how you and your husband are really into fitness!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️,” a seventh gushed.

Ka’oir seemingly claims that she built her body through hard work and exercise, but some fans have accused her of purchasing her fit physique. The Ka’oir Fitness founder said her love for fitness began in 2012 when her weight was fluctuating between 130 and 155 pounds. She wanted to keep the excess fat off her body, so she launched her own fitness line that consists of waist trainers, meal plans, and detox teas.

Her husband, rapper Gucci Mane, appears to have a love for fitness too. The “I Get the Bag” artist was sentenced to prison in 2014 and had reportedly lost 50 pounds by the time he was released in 2016. Last spring he revealed that he’s now lost a total of 100 pounds from when he was sent to prison, and he encouraged social media users to get active and emulate his fitness example.

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
