Wendy Williams slammed Nicki Minaj Tuesday, March 10 on her show, “The Wendy Williams Show,” over Minaj’s decision to marry Kenneth Petty, her teenage sweetheart.
Earlier this month, Petty was arrested in California by U.S. Marshals for failing to register as a sex offender when he moved there from New York.
Petty was first charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney, then by the feds. But the L.A. County charge was dropped after he registered.
He still faces the federal charge, however, and will be in court next month. Petty also has to wear an ankle monitor and could get a decade in prison if he’s convicted on the federal charge.
“Well, apparently the way this show is going today, we did not have enough time to get to Nicki Minaj’s [husband],” said Williams at the end of her show.
“But let me tell you something Nicki, that’s going to be my first story tomorrow and I’m going to lead with this,” she added. “You should’ve never married him because now you’ve ruined everything about what your brand could be.”
Williams then touched on Petty’s criminal past.
“You are never going to stand a chance when you are with a man who pulls a knife at rape point,” said Williams. “A registered sex offender, you are never going to stand a chance with the public. There’s only one thing worse than touching children and pulling knives and that’s murder. By the way, he did go to jail for manslaughter.”
Several people weighed in on what Williams had to say about Petty, and many agreed with her.
“As much as I love Nicki Wendy is absolutely right,” one person wrote.
“I don’t care. Still a fan of Ms. Nicki’s. Wendy house is made of glass. She should stop, before it gets shattered,” wrote someone else, who referenced Williams’ ex-husband Kevin Hunter.
Williams blasted Petty in the past as well and in November, on her “Queen Radio” show, Minaj responded and said that Williams has a “viciousness and evilness” to her.
Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 and spent nearly four years in a New York state prison.
He also served seven years in a New York state prison after he pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter. He was released from prison on that charge in 2013.
Minaj married Petty in October of last year.
