Jada Pinkett Smith certainly has a way of getting her guest on “Red Table Talk” to open up, and it’s possible she’ll get T.I. to do the same.
On Monday, during a chat with Entertainment Tonight, the actress revealed that Tip would visit her Facebook series to address the comments he made about accompanying his daughter Deyjah Harris on her gynecological visits.
“My next big guest is Tip. T.I. is coming to the table. Yes indeed,” said Pinkett Smith while she discussed the new film “Hala,” which she executive produced. “Tip and Tiny [will be there], and of course he’s going to address the controversy that has been swirling … And he and Tiny sit down and talk about how they survive in regards to their marriage.”
On Nov. 5, the Atlanta rapper had an interview on the “Ladies Like Us” podcast, and to this day the backlash for what he said hasn’t subsided.
“We have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen,” Tip told the hosts Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham, who later apologized for not chastising him.
“Right after the birthday, we celebrate … I put a sticky note on the door: ‘Gyno, tomorrow, 9:30,’” he added. “We’ll go and sit down, and the doctor will come and talk, and you know, the doctors maintain a high level of professionalism … I say, ‘Deyjah, they want you to sign this … so we can share information. Is there anything that you would not want me to know?’”
Deyjah recently stopped following her father online, as well as Tiny and some of her stepbrothers and sisters. She deleted all of her social media pages as well.
Plus Tip, who’s usually incredibly active on social media, hasn’t shared anything on Instagram since Nov. 3, and since Nov. 4 he’s only sent two tweets and one of those was just a retweet.
After it was announced that he’d be on “Red Table Talk,” some said they wanted Pinkett Smith to give him tough questions about his “hymen” comment.
“Jada needs to really help him understand how destructive this behavior can be for a young woman,” someone wrote on YouTube. “Plus, I mean even if his daughter is “ok” with it all, then he should know what to keep private. Lastly, ask him why he treats his sons differently. a mess.”
But another person said they have no interest in seeing the “Whatever You Like” writer explain himself.
“Some things don’t deserve spotlights or a second chance or further explaining,” that person commented.
T.I. will be on “Red Table Talk” Monday, November 25.
