Former “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Tommie Lee wanted no parts of a huge online debate over the Kardashians’ parenting techniques.
A huge child-rearing debate broke out on social media this week after Kris Kardashian‘s boyfriend, Corey Gamble, insinuated that he believed in physically disciplining children if they misbehaved on the latest episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Scott Disick, the ex-boyfriend of Kourtney Kardashian, 40, got into a heated argument with Gamble, claiming that he felt “uncomfortable” with leaving his three children around him after his remarks. After receiving backlash on their no “physical harm” approach toward their kids when they misbehave, Kourtney addressed the topic and defended Disick.
“In my opinion beating children is not the way to ‘get your kids in check,’ she tweeted on Sept. 22. “When children are hurting or frustrated, the answer is not to physically hurt them.”
A slew of people disagreed with Kourtney’s method and slammed her seemingly lax attitude towards her kids. One person even commented, “If you won’t whoop yo kids, the police will have all the fun but they rich. … We really walk the streets.”
Lee, who resolved her child cruelty case a few months ago, jokingly chimed in on the topic and wrote in the comment section, “🚶🏽 Ima head out.”
Her fans were in stitches over remark, urging her to “sit this one out.”
“We already know how you coming sis 😂😂 she need a lesson from you FOR SURE”
“@tommie_ yea sis this one ain’t for you head out asap 😂🤐”
“We know yo kids would never disrespect you or you knockin heads between the washerdryer 😂😂”
In October, Lee was charged with physically assaulting her then-11-year-old daughter by banging the child’s head into a locker at her middle school. Lee pleaded guilty to five charges, including first-degree cruelty to children, and was handed 10 years of probation.
The television personality maintains her innocence and denies slamming her daughter’s head into a locker as earlier reports stated. She has also added that the entire case really did a number on her.
“This whole situation really took a toll on me … You know how reports go, it was a lot put on that and it wasn’t like that at all,” she explained of the alleged incident during a July 15 interview with The Breakfast Club.
“My daughter took edibles to school and she got a charge from that,” she continued. “She took ’em to school, all the kids ate ’em, and, basically, they called me… all the kids were rushed to the hospital.”
Lee indicated that she feared that her daughter was going down the same path as her and didn’t want that for her youngest child.
“I was arrested when I was 15 years old as a runaway and that’s how I started my record,” she further explained. “It really hindered my life.”
