Well, it looks like folks got this one wrong.
After talk show host Wendy Williams was spotted out with a new mystery man, a U.K. tabloid ran with the story. But, as it turns out, the guy is not someone Williams is dating.
“WOW me & my audience producer @marcoglorious! I’ve got some explaining to do September 16th😁,” Williams captioned a screenshot of a news report about her and the alleged new guy, which the Daily Mail reported about Thursday, August 15.
In response, many fans called out the publication, as they knew the man in the pic with Williams is her audience producer Marco Glorious.
“😩😩😩 They clearly don’t watch your show 🤦🏾♀️”
“If you dont know who that is, then you’re not really a Wendy fan 🙄💅🏻”
“They think you f—ing everybody.. geeze🙄”
“You grown ain’t nothing to explain!!!”
“We don’t believe the gossip Wendy. I personally don’t care who you are dating or if you are dating. I just wish you happiness.”
Although the Daily Mail headline now identifies the 35-year-old as “her bestie audience producer,” the copy states the two linked arms and she “was seen cozying up to a new man, weeks after her rumored boyfriend was revealed to be taken.”
That rumored beau is Dr. Darrin Porcher, retired New York Police Department detective who told the Daily Mail, to which he contributes, that he was “flattered” by the reports that they’re an item, but said he was only working with Williams “to provide security.” He also said he is “happily in a relationship right now.”
Meanwhile, the newest write-up on Williams and Glorious noted the pair “linked arms” as they left Whole Foods by the Flatiron District, where they were said to spend some time inside of the store.
The DailyMailTV’s Alicia Quarles said the duo appeared to be on a lunch outing. Quarles also added, “Old friends make the best boyfriends.”
But during a visit to the radio show “Sway in the Morning” last week, Williams made it clear that folks should not mistake seeing her out and about with a new guy as something serious.
“You might see me on a date with a 32-year-old,” Williams, 55, explained. “Please, don’t mistake that for anything other than we’re on a date. What I need is the comfort of a man who’s got his own. Oh, and by the way, grown kids.”
