Social media noticed something new about rapper Remy Ma‘s appearance this week following the end of her parole sentence.
The “New Thang” artist is no longer wearing an ankle bracelet, and people couldn’t help but make note of it. Her husband, rapper Papoose, announced his wife’s parole “freedom” nearly two weeks ago via Instagram as they celebrated with friends and family.
Remy, on the other hand, has been celebrating her newfound freedom with a chain of photo posts. She took to Instagram Tuesday evening and posted pictures of herself posing in front of a Coney Island mural. She was draped in a Adidas getup seemingly with matching sneakers. Her makeup and hair were done to a T, and her gold bling apparently “screamed money.”
She captioned her post “#RemyMa.”
Remy’s fans not only gawked over her appearance, they also made mention of her “naked ankle.”
“Ankles are looking lighter 🤣 I’m glad that chapter closed in your life”
“Ankles cute Girly!! 😍😂 definitely proud of you queen”
“That ankle can breath now lol no more bracelet”
“Peep her naked ankle 👀 no more ankle bracelet she a free woman now”
In 2014, Remy was released from prison after serving six years behind bars for shooting a longtime friend in a beef over money. In the 2007 incident, Remy shot the friend, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, in the abdomen and then proceeded to go through her purse before leaving the woman bleeding from her wound.
The 38-year-old rapper’s five-year parole term officially ended August 1.
“She is officially off post-release supervision, which is similar to parole but it’s stricter because it’s for violent offenders,” Dawn Florio, Remy’s attorney confirmed to E News earlier this month. “She completed five years perfectly without ever missing a curfew or having a dirty urine.”
He added, “She got her ankle monitor off this afternoon. No more curfew or travel restrictions. She is so excited to be able to travel with her family freely again.”
Remy celebrated the news by sharing a video of herself and close friend Fat Joe riding in a red convertible, blasting Anita Baker’s “You Bring Me Joy” to her Instagram Story.
Papoose also shared a video of her and their loved ones singing and celebrating on a ride in their home city of New York.
“And they lived happily ever after!!!!” the “Turn It Up” musician wrote via Instagram. “#blacklove Off papers. The #queen.”
