As Malaysia Pargo celebrated her 39th birthday in Bali Monday, she also got a birthday wish from pal and “Basketball Wives” co-star Evelyn Lozada. But the post didn’t land well among viewers.
Lozada marked the occasion August 12 by posting a photo of a smiling Pargo to her Instagram page and writing in the caption, “I want to wish you all the love and happiness in the world, all of which you deserve. Happy birthday!!! @malaysiainthecity ❤️🙏🏽.”
Pargo seemed thankful for the recognition as she commented, “Thank you so much E 😘..you’re the best 😘”
Pargo also got love from her one of her other “Basketball Wives” co-stars, Kristen Scott who commented, “She’s so damn pretty!!! 😍 Happy Bday M.”
And while fans initially poured out with well-wishes for Pargo’s special day, viewers of the show began slamming Lozada’s interaction with Pargo on the VH1 reality show’s fan Instagram account.
“Fake recognizes fake. 😂😂”
“When two goofballs link up 🔥💕”
“‘The best’? This is the person who dissed your cousin’s fiancee, spread a nasty rumour, made a racial joke. The family and this and the family that. Thought you ride for them? Guess not.”
‘Fake love.’
“Evelyn and shaunie got to malaysia, malaysia is so phony now that she hangs around with the founding fathers of bullying cough cough shaunie and evelyn, i remember when evelyn first came back i really wanted Malaysia to beat her ass that evelyn vs Malaysia feud would make good tv.”
“Just two seasons ago she was a plus one with zero substance but hey to each it’s own 💁🏽♂️”
The response from fans likely stems from the ongoing tensions between Pargo, Lozada, Tami Roman and Shaunie O’Neal during season 6 of the show. At that time, O’Neal said Pargo didn’t have any substance, and Roman deemed Pargo a “plus-one.” As it specifically relates to Pargo and Lozada, the latter said the only reason why she came back to the reality show was that Pargo nor Brandi Maxwell were supposed to be part of the cast.
Pargo later wound up taking Maxwell’s side and forged a genuine friendship with onetime foe Jackie Christie. Maxwell has since left the show.
Now, on the current season, Pargo has largely stayed out of the drama and focused on trying to get Scott and her future mother-in-law Cece Gutierrez to make amends.
