It’s official. After a month of speculation that Porsha Williams and Dennis McKinley are no longer an item, it has been confirmed that the pair ended their engagement.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star will not walk down the aisle with The Original Hot Dog Factory owner by the end of the year as initially planned. E! News confirmed Thursday that the couple has called it quits eight months after they got engaged following a whirlwind summer romance last year.
Around the same time that the news broke, Williams uploaded a meme to Instagram appearing to be thankful to see another day.
“Dear God, I made it out of bed this morning… Thank you so much,” the meme read.
The post, which was met with lots of love from her pals like co-stars Tanya Sam and Cynthia Bailey, came a day after Williams expressed appreciation to Costa Hollywood Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida. Posting a ringless photo of herself holding daughter Pilar Jhena’, whom she welcomed with McKinley in March, she said in part, “finally got to take a much-needed vacation with my family. “
News of Williams’ and McKinley’s breakup follows mounting rumors about trouble for the pair. Reports first emerged in May that Williams gave him the boot after she unfollowed him on Instagram. Around that same time, the couple was faced with rumors that McKinley had been unfaithful. Williams stayed silent aside from sending hinting messages though PJ’s onesie. However, McKinley vowed to take legal action denying the “false and slanderous allegations.”
Although Williams managed to begin following McKinley again not long after the rumors swirled, fans continuing to see her without her ring and her uninspired Father’s Day message to McKinley had followers seeing the writing on the wall.
But when asked about the status of her relationship with her now-ex-fiancé at the American Black Film Festival last week, Williams kept things coy.
“What I will always do is make sure I protect family. He will always be my daughter’s father and I will absolutely love him forever,” Essence magazine reported she said. “We absolutely go through our ups and downs together. And I still thank God for the blessing I claimed a year ago. … I am still thankful to God and I know he is holding both of our hands as long as we stay in prayer.”
Williams has since deleted most photos of herself and McKinley together from her Instagram page and unfollowed him. McKinley also no longer follows his ex on the social media application.
