Masika Kalysha is apparently getting schooled by social media on her grammar.
The “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” actress is quite popular on the web for her witty responses to negative commenters, but every now and again her clapbacks take a turn for the worse.
Kalysha posted a photo of herself on Instagram Monday, dashingly dressed in a black ensemble comparable to burlesque-like attire. She also sported a blond pixie, finger-wave haircut with a red lipstick to complement her look. She posed for a photo seemingly outside of restaurant Catch LA in West Hollywood, California, and added in her caption, “Betty Boop. … Last Night… Headed to the local speak easy… you can call me Billie.”
One fan in particular commented on Kalysha’s post, writing, “When you wish you was going to Met Gala.”
The reality star shot back at the fan, blasting he or she for apparently using incorrect grammar, “Was is past tense, going is present tense, please deliver ur ‘insults’ with correct grammar… idiot. … Of course I want to attend the met gala, & I absolutely will. I know u wish u could see your feet when u look down but you can’t & won’t ever 🤷🏾.”
Her response — which was in some sense incorrect, as the fan would have been correct to use the phrase “when you wish you were going” — received an applause from some fans.
” Love her 😫👏🏾👏🏾 they gone learn to not come for my girl Masika!”
“@masikakalysha my good sis why u do her like that 😂🤦🏾♀️ I’m hollering. Why do they even try and come for u 😂 #sikasaidwhatshesaid.”
Others put Kalysha on front street.
“She got some nerve smh Masika what about your incorrect grammar? How you speak on grammar, yet she doesn’t spell correctly 🙄.”
“She tried to sound so intelligent and clap back classy , but played tf out herself 😂😂 sis can’t spell!”
“When you clap back with equally bad grammar and still didn’t go to the Met Gala🤣🤦🏾♀️sorry! This was an epic fail Masika lol.”
Kalysha who’s known as one of the Internet’s “clapback queens,” proudly accepts the title. She told 96.7 The Beat during an interview that she only entertains critics in the honor of her supporters.
‘As silly as it sounds, I feel like my supporters need it,” she said. “It’s entertaining. I’m very witty, and I feel like a lot of people are very stupid. So I feel like stupid questions or stupid things said deserve an equally stupid response.”
She added, “Sometimes people say things that are very ignorant, and instead of getting mad I use humor.”
