It seems there’s never a dull moment with “Love and Hip Hop: New York” star Safaree Samuels.
The reality star appears to be in the process of getting his health in order and recently announced he has gone vegan. Not only has he apparently decided to eat better, he’s also been hitting the gym with celebrity fitness trainer Erin Banks.
The 37-year-old New York native took to his Instagram feed on Wednesday with a photo of himself and his trainer posing together in the gym. Samuels had on Gold’s Gym strength training gloves and Banks sported a back brace for weightlifting.
The trainer’s brace looked extremely tight around his waist, apparently to the point that some fans thought he would have a hard time breathing, leading him to become the butt of their jokes in Samuels’ post.
“Damn he shaped like a Coke bottle 😂😂 dude gotta lay off the waste trainers he’s starting to look like Kim Kardashian.”
“Safaree you look nice but what is that beside you👁️👁️ can, he breathe 😂😮.”
“I can’t do dudes with the ⏳ shape.Y do he have on a waist trainer…lol 😂.”
“Just please don’t do your waist like this dude your buddy shaped like a drumstick?? 😭🤣🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🍗.”
A few others raced to the trainer’s defense.
“Y’all are truly slow… it’s a back brace for lifting weights you idiots 🙄.”
“Some of ya’ll miserable he is healthier than everybody in the comments.”
Samuels has yet to respond to the gibes about his trainer on his post and appears to be more invested in other matters, like his apparent wedding with his fiancée Erica Mena.
The couple got engaged in December after the New York rapper proposed to Mena on Christmas Eve with friends and family around. The “No Regular Girl” rapper announced on Twitter on Dec. 26 that he and Mena already set a wedding date, although he did not confirm it.
During a People Magazine interview in February, one thing Mena said she loved about her husband to be was his playful character.
“He makes everyone laugh,” she told People magazine in February. “He loves to joke around and dance.”
