“Love & Hip Hop” stars Safaree Samuels and Erica Mena just got engaged, and he laid out just how he popped the question. The New York native broke it all down next to a picture of himself and Mena kissing, and, according to his explanation, there was certainly a lot of planning involved.
“Been planning this since your birthday,” he wrote on Instagram after proposing on Christmas Eve. “From center stone shopping to ring design to sneaking rings on your fingers in your sleep to get your ring size, ordering 10,000 rose petal, 200 candles, a fireworks show in your backyard … Sorry I lied about us going on a fancy date.”
Safaree then explained that he was tired of being single and wanted to be in a committed relationship.
“It’s crazy I thought I was happy being single, but it’s no better feeling than having that teammate, best friend, partner,” he wrote. “There was definitely a void that you filled.”
Many quickly congratulated the couple, but some said the engagement is fake and has everything to do with Safaree and Erica being on “Love & Hip Hop.” There were also some who brought up Erica’s past relationships.
“Is this another reality show wedding?” someone asked. “Y’all keep falling for this bullsh–. Bow Wow, Rich Dollars, 50 more dudes and now @iamsafaree.”
“You were engaged for 10 years before,” wrote another. “Can’t take you seriously.”
“When were y’all even dating?” a third person questioned.
A lot of people also said that Erica was sporting a baby bump in the photo, and she and Safaree are already expecting. There were also those who agreed with that theory but believe it’s all “Love & Hip Hop” related.
“She got pregnant so Mona [Scott] needs that check and needs Safaree’s story line,” the person wrote. “Bet this is going to be on ‘Love & Hip Hop.'”
Neither Safaree or Erica said anything about expecting a child at this point.
