Nene Leakes was among the many celebs who stepped out at Churchill Downs this past weekend to take in what wound up being a historic Kentucky Derby Saturday. But “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star wound up turning heads for bringing a date who was not her husband to the race.
Leakes, along with singer Michelle Williams and her former betrothed Chad Johnson, snapped a photo together during the race. Ahead of history being made when derby officials determined Country House was the rightful winner after first-to-the-wire horse Maximum Security was found to have crossed lanes, Leakes posed with her pals and a mystery man.
“SWIPE for fun times wit friends! I loved my fascinator! Gotta give an extra special kiss to @michellewilliams We had the best convos, laughs, cocktails, shopping, cigar smoking and betting on horses fun weekend any girl could ask for #kentuckyderby,” Leakes captioned the photo set she uploaded to Instagram May 6.
Fans, however, noticed the man was certainly not Gregg Leakes.

Leakes is no stranger to attending events sans her husband. The star has been traveling to the Washington area to prepare for the opening of her newest Swagg Boutique location at MGM National Harbor in Maryland later this month.
Still, the speculation about Gregg’s whereabouts isn’t without concern. During a tense “RHOA” reunion, which was filmed in March, Leakes indicated she would not rule out splitting from Gregg. Her husband of nearly six years continues to battle colon cancer and celebrated six months of chemotherapy in April.
“It would be easy to make a decision about divorcing Gregg if he didn’t have cancer,” Nene said on the season 11 reunion, which aired on Bravo last month. “I don’t want to live my life unhappy … It’s tough. We are family, period. Whether we are together or not. We share a 20-year-old son. I am always gonna be here for Gregg.”
Her revelation came after an episode aired that saw Nene revealing to Cynthia Bailey that she and Gregg had discussed ending their marriage for a second time as the pair lived in separate rooms in their sprawling estate.
“Right before I came here, he talked about separating,” the longtime “RHOA” star said. “He said he would go ahead and find him a place. Last night I felt like I broke because he is so mean. I get that it’s a sickness but I can’t be talked to quite like that.”
