NeNe Leakes’ Husband Gregg Leakes Finishes Chemotherapy with ‘Ringing the Bell’

Nene Leakes announced in June 2018 that her husband Gregg Leakes is battling cancer. Now, 10 months later, the couple is celebrating a milestone in Gregg’s recovery.

The former businessman just completed six months of chemotherapy, the news of which follows his diagnosis with colon cancer last May.

“This all started May 5th 2018…It’s been a long emotional ride for our entire family!” the longtime “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star wrote of her husband’s illness on Instagram Wednesday, April 3. “Listen up American…..TODAY my husband @greggleakes has completed 6 months of chemotherapy! Awesome job hunni! I’m so happy for you and the strength you showed during this difficult time in your life! PS: Thank you to all of our family, friends, fans, doctors and nurses who lifted us up in constant prayer, sent recipes, doctors info, gave advice and gifts! We love you ❤️ PSS: what a relief! We finally get to share with the world what we’ve been going thru.”

Accompanying the happy caption was a video of Gregg ringing a gong celebrating the completion of half a year of chemo treatment as a staff of nurses and doctors applauded him. Afterward, the Leakes went home with loved ones and had a small celebration, complete with a catered meal and a cake. Gregg and Nene danced as a live singer performed a rendition of Billy Paul’s “Me and Mrs. Jones.”

As of Thursday morning, Leakes’ post racked up more than 15,000 comments, most of which heaped on the praise for Gregg and Nene both.

“That’s so wonderful congratulations guys god bless you.”

“Tears, so happy for Greg and your family. Congratulations and continue good health, happiness, and Love. 🙏🏽❤️”

“So happy for you guys congrats and keep up the great work. God bless your husband, you and your family.”

“Congrats to Gregg, Nene, and the whole family. I can’t imagine having to go through cancer in the public eye. ❤️”

Even Leakes’ former friend Cynthia Bailey congratulated Gregg, despite her strained relationship with Nene.

“This is a blessing!” the “RHOA” star said. “God is so good. 🙏🏾”

After Gregg’s diagnosis last year, he initially explored holistic remedies to treat cancer after undergoing surgery. They included taking on a vegan diet and sticking to alkaline water. However, when it was revealed he still had cancer cells in his body, Gregg decided he’d need to do chemo after all, despite his initial resistance to it.
