Evelyn Lozada may no longer be married to ex Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, but that doesn’t mean her relationship with his daughter has changed. On the contrary, the “Basketball Wives” star recently proved she’s as tight as ever with the former Cincinnati Bengals player’s 21-year-old child.
Lozada posted a photo posing with Jicyra Johnson to her Instagram page on April 23.
“An unbreakable bond ❤️ #MyBaby4Life,” the 43-year-old reality star captioned the image she shared online Monday.
Fans raved about the pair continuing to be close despite the end of Lozada’s brief and tumultuous marriage to the former football player in 2012.
“Awww. I love this ❤️❤️❤️”
“That’s just amazing to me! I know your step mom life was short lived but it kinda still lives on. You are great Ev!♥️”
“She’s so cute! This is nice to see!!! Y’all are bomb!”
“Ohhhhh I looooove seeing this!!! This makes me so happy 😢😢😢😢🙌🙌🙌😍”
“@evelynlozada glad to see something positive come from that whole situation. She’s beautiful! ❤️”
And the love wasn’t just coming from Lozada, either. Jicyra also shared the photo to her Instagram account. She wrote in the caption, “If you know you know.. ❤️ Love you @evelynlozada.”
Lozada briefly became the stepmother to Ochocinco’s children when the two wed in July 2012. Jicyra was 14 years old when the celebrities got hitched. Nearly a month after their wedding, the young teen tweeted of Evelyn, “I thank god he met you.. 🙏 happiest day of life, just because I know you’ll be here forever ☺💗 I love you Evelyn!!!”
Despite what appeared to be wedded bliss, a domestic dispute led Johnson to become violent with Lozada. The star found condoms, and when she confronted her husband about it he head-butted her during an argument.
The result was a misdemeanor battery charge against the former NFL star. Lozada filed for divorce but Jicyra retweeted a comment indicating she wanted Lozada and her dad to work things out.
“@Jicyraa_Carter please tell (your) dad and step-mom to work it out ….They don’t have to get a divorce,” one user said.
But it wasn’t meant to be. The split was made final in September of that year.
Still, amid all the drama, Jicyra made it clear she’d always adore her one-time stepmother.
“Regardless [of] what [happened] this weekend I will and still love me, my dad and Evelyn, and I always will,” she tweeted following the domestic incident.
