‘When You New to It, Tryna Be True to it’: Tami Roman Teases Recording Session but Things Take a Humorous Turn

Tami Roman has apparently given fans a glimpse into how she gets into character for her rap alter ego, except things weren’t going that well. As a result, hilarity ensued.

The “Basketball Wives” star uploaded a clip to her Instagram Story Monday, April 15.

“Yo, Ray. Turn me up in the headphones!” Roman says as she stands in a recording booth next to a mic, appearing ready to drop some bars.

“Yo, T, what are you talking about?” rapper Ray Champion asks. “You ain’t got no headphones.”

Roman stands looking dumbfounded as captions she wrote litter the screen.

“When you new to it, tryna be true to it 😂😂😂” one read.

“Where da headphone bih” another said.

Roman also called out to her rapper daughter Jazz Anderson and Champion, asking, “What chu gon do wit me? 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️”

It seems Roman was giving fans a little taste of how she’s beginning to step into character as Tatiana Trill, her rap alter ego. Roman first made waves about her foray into music when she appeared on “Bossip on We TV” in September 2018. There, she said she was eager to return to the gig that she once dabbled in during the 1990s as part of a girl group.

Reflecting on the group never taking off and life events prohibiting their success, the singer/rapper turned reality star told “Sister Circle” she wants to get back to recording and performing.

“I feel like I’m at a point in my life where it’s — I hate to say bucket list, it sounds cliché — but it’s really what it is for me,” she said on the talk show in December 2018. “I didn’t do that. Why not me? If other people can make it happen, I’ma get out there. And whether people love it or hate it, it’s just something that I want to do.”

By January, Roman had made Trill official anddebuted her on Instagram with a sultry photo.

“New year, new project 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Go follow IG @iamtatianatrill we’re about to have a gooood time 💙 Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to my team, let’s have some fun, it’s #2019 bih!!!!” the accompanying caption read.

The star has since been serious about getting Trill off the ground, and last week she even gave her followers a taste of the track the rapper purportedly will drop.
