Tiffany Haddish Opens Up About Failed Miami New Year’s Eve Show: ‘My Soul Just Left My Body’

Tiffany Haddish recently opened up about her failed New Year’s Eve show in Miami. She did it Tuesday on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and explained how everything went so awry.

If you recall, Haddish made headlines after she played a sold-out show at the James L. Knight Center, because she forgot jokes, slurred her words and appeared to be drunk. Some in the crowd eventually walked out, and the “Girl’s Trip” star sent a tweet the following day.

“Yes this happened,” she wrote. “I wish it was better Miami. I prayed on it and I have a strong feeling this will never happen again.”

On Kimmel, Haddish explained the show went badly, because her friends forced her to go out when she really didn’t want to.

“New Year’s Eve was just a bad day at work,” she explained. “So I get off set, and I fly directly to Miami, and a lot of my friends were in town. They’re like ‘Tiffany, come on, we’ve got to go out. Let’s celebrate. You’ve got to celebrate all your successes.'”

Eventually, one of Haddish’s friends said there would be a lot of “sexy guys there,” which convinced the comedian to go out and party.

“I danced all night, I drank more than I’ve ever drank in my entire life,” she stated. “My kidneys fell out, I’m pretty sure my Uber rating dropped a little low, ’cause I pooped on myself a little bit in the Uber. It was bad.”

Haddish then explained once she got on stage, she felt disoriented and couldn’t remember the venue’s name. And things got worse once the audience began pulling out cellphones to record her.

“I looked out and people was cheering, and I was looking at everybody, and I saw the lights, and my soul just left my body,” she described. “And I was like ‘Come back,’ and she was like ‘No.'”

The comedian said since that show she no longer allows people to record her performances with cellphones.

The Los Angeles native also explained that she’ll be playing Miami again this coming summer, and anyone who was at that failed New Year’s Eve show will be able to get in for free. They would just need to present the ticket from that particular gig.

Haddish also said she plans to donate the proceeds from that upcoming show to the Department of Children’s services.
