Floyd Mayweather celebrated his 42nd birthday on Feb. 24, and Melissa Brim, the mother of his daughter Iyanna Mayweather, wished him a happy birthday. But in doing so she got skewered, because the boxer has angered many in the Black community for still supporting Gucci.
Earlier this month, after it emerged that the Italian fashion house had released a black sweater that many thought had a design that looked like blackface, many called for a boycott, but Mayweather said he’d still wear the brand. 50 Cent blasted him for his stance soon after, as did T.I., who wrote a song about Mayweather called “F–K N—a.”

So when Brim wished her ex a happy birthday, the criticism came quickly.
“What a bird would do for a couple dollars,” someone wrote. “Sl-res like you who encourage this behavior from our Black men are detrimental.”
“Coon ass b–ch!!!!!” another person commented.
There were also people who blasted Brim because Mayweather isn’t with her anymore but she’s still supporting him.
“u talking ignorant to defend a n—-a that don’t even want u,” wrote one of her followers. “Buy a brain with that child support.”
And there were others who didn’t cast blame on Brim for Mayweather’s fashion choices. They went directly at the fighter.
“Happy coon day @floydmayweather,” someone wrote. “Your the worst example of wealth cause all your money goes right back to the hands of rich designers and car dealers and jewelers which none are Black, your a disgrace to Black people and do nothing to help us f–k you floyd.”
Mayweather celebrated his birthday at a ’90s-themed party on Saturday, Feb. 23, at The Reserve in Los Angeles, and those in attendance included Tiffany Haddish and Swae Lee. Brim was there as well.
