R&B singer Ashanti is giving the fashion world a run for its money with her recent voguish ensembles.
The “So Over You” singer heated things up a notch during her Valentine’s Day performance last week with her former label mate, rapper Ja Rule. The duo are currently on tour together, and they kicked it off with a performance at indoor club and venue The Novo in Los Angeles. They performed some of their hit song collaborations together, including “Always on Time,” “Mesmerize,” “Down 4 U” and a few others. However, Ashanti’s getup is really what stole the show.
The singer donned a red glitter jumpsuit featuring a long-front zipper-line and hood, a pair of red strapped stiletto heels and a latex trench coat. She accentuated the look with a pair of oversized red eyeglass frames and opted for a short platinum-blond hairdo and a bold makeup look.
Ashanti took to Instagram on Sunday and shared a chain of photos of her “smoking hot” performance look with the captions, “Sauce,” “Love” and “Valentine’s Day Recap ❤️❤️.”
Fans of the Grammy Award-winning artist went bananas over her fiery fashion look.
“Dayumnnn!!! You Fine 💝😘,” one person commented underneath her photo. “Put some respeck on her name son… Ashanti @ashanti.”
“Nobody’s f–ing with Ashanti when it come to fashion periodT!” another fan exclaimed.
“Bad to the bone Queen 😩 you wearing that outfit ,” one of her Instagram followers wrote. “Talk about rebranding, you are getting it. Keep doing what you do @ashanti 👌🏾😘😍.”
As far as rebranding goes, Ashanti said she’ll be releasing completely new music and visuals that are different from her usual approach.
” [I’ve] been working with so many different people, shooting a lot of things, [and] just trying things differently. Going outside the box,” she told iHeartRadio in March 2018.
She continued, “Trying different looks and shooting different kinds of visuals. I did a shoot where I’m standing on the ledge of a building, you know, one wrong move [and] it would have been over. But I think it’s just really important nowadays to touch people [and] bring something new to the table. And, you know, bring it.”
And while no new music has emerged in almost a year since the March interview, the 37-year-old fashionista did team up last year with Isabel Deng, the creator of New York fashion line Miss Circle, to release a “swaggy” clothing line. She told Page Six in December that the pieces reflect her personal style as a woman.
“My motto has always been to stay classy and sassy and sexy, not trashy,” she said. “I think that I always try to inspire women to be bosses and demand respect. You can still be sexy and swaggy and be the boss.”
