As Wendy Williams prepares to head into her third week off from hosting “The Wendy Williams Show,” “Basketball Wives” star Tami Roman has stepped in Friday to co-host the program.
Roman made her hosting debut on the show along with co-panelists Carson Kressley, formerly of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” journalist and HQ Triva host Sharon L. Carpenter and TV host and ex-“The View” executive producer Brian Balthazar.
“#HotTalk TODAY on @wendyshow with @carsonkressley @brianbalthazar @sharoncarpenter 🙌🏽🙌🏽,” Roman excitedly shared on her Instagram page Friday, Feb. 1.

Fans lauded her new temporary gig and hoped Roman would become the sole replacement for Williams until her return.
“@tamiroman LOVED LOVED LOVED you on Wendy! Your opinions were my opinions! I couldn’t wait to hear what you thought about every topic that was brought up. Can you stay until Wendy comes back???!”
“You @tamiroman I could replaced @wendyshow until she recovers. I believe u got the tea ☕️”
“If she dips you can take her job you’re perfect for it and much nicer and your shade will be less harsh and more funny.”
Others felt Roman deserved a talk show all her own.
“I think you did a great job co-hosting today. When’s your talk show coming out!! Lol great job Tami.”
“Tami is Bomb on Wendy..beauty and brains…do articulate; I’m here for it!!! This could be your niche’ I love it!!”
“Omg Tami I 💜you in this setting…. you need your own show….. 💜”
Roman initially announced she’d stepped into co-hosting duties on her Instagram Story Wednesday.
“I flew into New York today because I’m co-hosting Wendy,” she said before lamenting over the extremely cold temperatures. “This is what’s going on in New York right now. It’s unacceptable. I don’t have the proper coat. I only brought my Fashion Nova jacket.”
Williams is mending a broken arm and undergoing treatment for complications from Graves disease. The TV personality was set to return to her show next week but Nick Cannon was announced this week as a host to fill in for her for several episodes on Feb. 4-6. It is the third time her return has been postponed since fans grew worried about her slurred speech and generally slower pace on air in December.
