Steve Harvey Rehashes His 90-Day Rule, Says Women Should View Men as on Probation Before a Sex ‘Benefits Package’

Talk show host Steve Harvey dished the deets on why he suggests women follow his 90 day rule when dating a man.

Harvey took to Twitter last Wednesday and shared a clip from his “Steve” TV show of himself discussing relationship do’s and don’ts with women. He referenced the “90 day rule” in his book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” which states that women should wait three months before having sex with a man.

“It gives you 90 days to prepare to know a man,” the comedian explained in the clip posted from his show. “90 days is the probation period at FedEx, at the Post Office [and] at a motor company.”

Harvey added that three months is usually the probation period for new hires at a job. He said the defined time period is to help employers determine whether the employee is suitable to work at the job.

“Then if you complete the full 90 day period… They give you the full benefit package,” Harvey said. “You ladies have one of the biggest benefit packages available to men.”

Twitters users had mixed reactions to Harvey’s relationship advice.

“The 90 Day Rule should be extended to 180 Day Rule,” one fan suggested. “People play to much these days. #seriouslydating.”

Another added, “I read your book Uncle Steve and I agree! Most men don’t wanna wait 90 days so the ones who stick around might actually care.”

A third person seemed to disagree with the talk show host’s take on the 90 day rule.

“Steve you could benefit from this MUST Read ‘Vagina Management,'” the person wrote. “Women’s bodies/intimacy being compared to manufacturers/business🤦🏽‍♀️Yeah, not buying it.Ladies don’t dumb yourself down for man-made rule.”

The 62-year-old actor released his best-selling relationship advice book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment” in 2009. His book would later be adapted into two movies, “Think Like a Man” and “Think Like a Man Too.”

Harvey said he was inspired after having relationship talks with his daughters to write the book for women who were struggling to achieve a successful relationship.

“I’ve failed enough times to know how to get it right,” Harvey said in a “Good Morning America” interview in 2012. “I know all the mistakes I made and all the mistakes women allowed me to make, and I put them in a book for you.”
