It’s coming!
Will Smith got fans revved up to see the highly anticipated part three of “Bad Boys” over the weekend when he posted a photo of himself and his co-star Martin Lawrence on Instagram.
“First Day of Shooting tomorrow! We watched @BadBoys 1 & 2 together over the weekend. It’s about to be KRAZY! #badboysforlife 📷: @jas,” the actor wrote to his 27 million followers Sunday, Jan. 13.
Fans swiftly went wild for Smith’s post, which racked up 4.1 million likes in delight for “Bad Boys For Life.”
“YESSSS I’M A BIG FAN ESPECIALLY BAD BOYS 2.”
“So with all the action movies that have come out since bb2 bb3 has to be on point… I’m talking I am legend on point @willsmith I’m so excited for this movie.”
“Bring it on home boyzzzzz!!! CANNOT WAIT!! I don’t care how many times BB is on the boob tube….this gal is watching!! 😬♥️😬♥️🥰♥️🥰 @willsmith @martinlawrence.”
“Yoh cant wait for the next bad boys movie from these two legends🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😱😱👌”
Lawrence also shared the pic on his IG account, writing, “Had the chance to watch Bad Boys 1 & 2 with my boy @willsmith before we start shooting this week! So many good memories on that screen and so many more to come! #teammartymar #badboysforlife #letsgettowork.”
Smith first confirmed the film, which follows 1995’s “Bad Boys” and 2003’s “Bad Boys II” was finally getting done last year. Due for release on Jan. 17, 2020, it’ll include Jacob Scipio, Paola Nuñez, Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton.
But one person who is noticeably missing from the second sequel is Gabrielle Union, who played Syd Burnett, the sister of Lawrence’s detective Marcus Burnett. She also romanced Smith’s character, detective Mike Lowrey.
Once news took off about the new installment happening, Union tweeted a series of emoji indicating she wanted in on the film.
“👀👀👀☎️” she said in November.
While Union isn’t billed as staring in “Bad Boys For Life,” she is starring in a spinoff series of the hit film franchise with Jessica Alba.
In May, it was reported that “L.A.’s Finest” will see Syd Burnett giving up her complicated past to become a detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. She clashes with her LAPD partner Nancy McKenna along the way.
The setup would mean that Burnett is no longer romantically involved with Lowery. And that makes sense, considering a rumored plot synopsis for the film. The Hashtag Show reported in May that Burnett is now working as a private eye after a falling-out with Lowery, who is experiencing a midlife crisis and dealing with being a bachelor who finally wants to put down roots. He also has gotten a new, young and cocky partner who has his loyalty, although it’s not returned. Burnett finds himself back in the fray with his old partner, and the two battle an Albanian mercenary who wants vengeance against Lowery and Burnett for the death of his brother.
