Tamar Braxton Defends Herself After Fans Blast Her for Ignorance on African Dish

Tamar Braxton recently defended herself against folks who called her out for being uneducated about a Nigerian dish.

Braxton has been extremely vocal about her relationship with her new boo Yemi. The two have been dating for a few months now, and the star revealed that she’s head over heels for her boyfriend. The “Braxton Family Values” actress is seemingly eager to learn everything about her man’s African culture and recently turned to social media for some advice.

Braxton took to Instagram this week and shared a photo of a Nigerian dish she grabbed a screenshot of from another person’s page. She asked in the caption of the photo, “Does anyone know what this is 🤷🏽‍♀️? what that taste like tho🤔?”

One fan seemed annoyed by the singer’s ignorance about the dish and commented, “The moment when she wants some damn attention… African dish/Tripe soup and fufu… it’s food.”

The “All the Way Home” singer hit back in a now deleted post, “How is this trying to gain attention? I got it off a famous African singer’s page. My amazing boyfriend is #Nigerian. Why wouldn’t I want to learn about his culture? Chill stop being the #postpolice 🙄.”

Other folks who chimed in underneath Braxton’s comments accused her of being an “attention seeker” and wanted to know why she didn’t ask her Nigerian boo for answers.

“So her Bf is Nigerian she couldn’t ask him 😂!? Her miss piggy looking ass always wants attention.”

“And as the post-ess said, she is trying to get some attention!!! DM yo man!!! Nobody cares!”

“She knows to ask an African about African food, silly. She could’ve asked the person from the page she copied the pic or an African food page if that’s what she really wanted 😏#Attention.”

Others defended her and added, “What if she was trying to surprise him with it?! and who told you she didn’t ask on the page she got it from 🙄?! You act like people always respond to their comments. Especially a celeb.”

“It’s two different carbohydrates fufu is made of cassava whilst pounded yam is boiled yam being pounded. Ya’ll could have answered her question lawdt 🙄!”

In September, Braxton revealed during an interview with Wendy Williams that she fell in love with Yemi within three months of dating.
