T-Pain has to travel all around the country for his shows, and as such he’s a frequent flyer of Delta Air Lines. But the rapper has grown tired of hearing the same songs play as he boards his flights and he got a major surprise when he aired out his grievances.
“@Delta we gotta change these boarding/taxiing songs more often guys. All of Us Million milers (quick brag) have to hear these same joints multiple times a day,” the autotune aficionado tweeted Friday, Sept. 28. “I gotta go perform in the staples center in a minute and Adele just put me in the weirdest mood. Now I’m crying. Thanx.”
Rather than reply in a stuffy way, the social media manager behind the Atlanta-based airline’s account responded playfully.
“Our boarding/taxing songs are intended to provide a relaxing experience,” they tweeted. “Can you imagine what would ensue if we played ‘buy u a drank’ (a personal fave), with everyone snappin’ their fingers and what not? We’d never get anywhere on time. Necessary sacrifices, Mr. Pain. *HBN”
T-Pain, whose real name is Faheem Rasheed Najm, replied that the explanation was “understandable” and went on to thank Delta for the “amazing service over all these years.”
The rapper made it to Los Angeles for his concert that night and then boarded another Delta flight back to Atlanta the following week on Saturday, Oct. 6. When he did, he got a surprise from the crew.
“We just landing back in Atlanta from LAX and @delta decided they wanna show out and starts blastin ‘Buy u a drank’ over the speakers in the plane,” T-Pain wrote in the caption of an Instagram video over the weekend. “Not gon lie it felt pretty damn cool. Made me chuckle like a lil girl 😂 s— was wild loud too. Big thank you to @delta and the super solid flight attendants for getting the flight lit 🔥 @delta I see what you mean. I didn’t wanna get off the plane. Solid facts 😂.”
And it appears the flight attendants felt the same way, as a surprised T-Pain captured one dancing to his 2007 no. 1 Billboard Hot 100 Chart hit.
Fans praised the moment.
“It’s a T-Plane now.”
“Legend.”
“I don’t even fly @Delta but @AmericanAir might have some competition. This made me LOL 😂😭😂😂”
“I love how happy you are hearing your song in this video! 😄”
Delta also chimed in tweeting, “The flight attendant dancing is the real MVP. Lol 😂…thank you for your continued loyalty and for sharing your craft, Mr. Pain! 💎❤ *HBN.”
