Actress Taraji P. Henson responded to tweets from entertainment agency CSA claiming that she will be attending the International Women in Media conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
CSA tweeted that Henson, singer Ashanti and Halle Barry would be attending the conferences. “Empowering and inspiring! Your host; and keynote speakers for the #WIMCon2018: @bonang_m, @halleberry & @therealtaraji! We are SO excited!”
The “Hidden Figures” actress quickly slammed the organization, “FALSE. I AM WORKING ON EMPIRE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO BE THERE. I HATE THAT THIS ORGANIZATION IS MISLEADING MY FANS.”
According to Times Live, the event was to be organized by 21st Century Group. Henson who’s name and image is used all over the promotional material fired off more tweets demanding that her fans get “their money back.”
The actress also responded to several tweets promoting the event, “FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! I WILL NOT BE AT THIS EVENT. AGAIN PLEASE REMOVE MY NAME !!!” Henson continued to work and clear her name from the event, tweeting a radio host promoting the event, “False! I have no knowledge of this event. PLEASE REMOVE MY NAME!”
A fan hoping for the best tweeted Henson’s twitter may have been hacked. “But come think about it, what if this account of @TherealTaraji has been hacked and someone is trying to play us and making our entertainment promoters look unprofessional.” The “Proud Mary” actress shut that down too, “FALSE!!! My account is not hacked!!! If it were you would know that too.”
New reports on Thursday, indicate Berry has also been a victim of this organization’s false advertisement. Berry’s name was also recently removed from the WIM Convention line up.
Many of the actresses’ fans are calling the company out on their scamming and misleading customers.
“I see what’s happening here. So they had planned to scam people with announcing Taraji P. Henson and Halle Berry as Key Speakers at the event and then announce the night before that they aren’t coming but their mistake was to tag them on their posts”
“So they lied about Taraji P.Henson coming at #WIMCon2018. I’m sure even Halle Berry is not coming.”
