Most fathers want to safeguard their daughters from all the heartbreak in the world, but Steve Harvey is taking overprotective to a new level, confessing that he had his future son-in-law followed when his daughter declared they were dating.
The “Steve Harvey’ talk show host revealed the shocking disclaimer to his audience Friday when asking his guests Garcelle Beauvais, Tracey Edmonds, Ta’Rhonda Jones, and Kim Gravel if they would date men their families disapproved of, referring to reports of Selena Gomez’s mother not being too fond of the pop singer’s relationship with Justin Bieber.
The women gave their personal opinions, but Gravel (former Georgia pageant queen) asked Harvey if it troubled him that his step-daughter is dating professional athlete Memphis Depay.
His response, “It did in the beginning, but then I had him followed”, he said to applause and laughter.
He admitted that his daughter had no clue and was upset when she found out. The comedian said he only had her best interest at heart.
“What you trippin’ for? I’m trying to help you. You think he cute, I don’t. You find him attractive. The boy is just a boy to me”, the comedian exclaimed. Harvey added that it was important for his daughter to date someone who respected her.
“If you’re not going to treat her the way I’ve treated her, and the way I’ve treated her mama, then you can’t have her, he said. “And then I’m going to fix it.
