Mathew Knowles isn’t taking Wendy Williams’ diss of his group, Destiny’s Child, lightly. Beyoncé’s dad and former manager hit back at the talk show host Saturday, Dec. 16 after she claimed the band’s rumored reunion at Coachella was just Bey “throwing a bone” at the DC ladies.
“Beyoncé to me has so much success and money that I do not think this is anything else but her throwing a bone,” she said on her talk show. “Like, your careers are flat I am going to give you this one last time. It’s like when you are associated to greatness if you can even get a gr — I did not say great Beyoncé is great. If you cannot be at least gr-, then there’s something wrong with you with your management there’s something wrong with your hustle.
“How are you brushing up [against] Beyoncé and you’re … Farrah [Franklin], not even invited back, well Michelle? Nevermind … Kelly, professional socialite, and the other two … Who are the other two?” she asked, referring to LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett.
It turns out that DC won’t be appearing with Bey at the music festival this year, however, and in response to Williams slamming of the former members, Knowles dissed the talk show hosts’ negativity.
“I prefer to spend my day being positive, helping my community,” Knowles says standing in front of his award collection. “Working with young students at Texas Southern University, writing books. “Maybe you don’t know that Destiny’s Child and Beyoncé were ranked in the top 10 of artists of the decade or that Destiny’s Child is ranked the number one pop and R&B female group of all times … Maybe you don’t know that Michelle Williams has had three No. 1 gospel albums. Kelly Rowland has sold four million albums worldwide.
“Maybe you don’t know these things. Maybe you don’t know Beyoncé, while I managed her, won 21 Grammys … You don’t accomplish these things by being shady. You accomplish it by building partnerships, being strategic and having artists that are passionate and very talented.”
