Whoopi Goldberg Confirms She Was Ready to Say Goodbye to ‘The View’

Before the newest season of “The View” began filming, rumors swirled that Whoopi Goldberg was done with the show.

And the comedienne now says the rumors were true.

“I wasn’t coming back,” Goldberg finally confirms to E! News Tuesday, Sept. 5. “But my daughter said, ‘I think that’s a mistake because we’ve just had a major shakeup and you need to be a part of this conversation.'”

Goldberg renewed her contract with “The View” in August, according to Variety, which marked her 10th anniversary on the show. A year earlier, Goldberg had told “The Wendy Williams Show” she would “probably not” be returning for season 21 of the ABC talk show.

“I have to do it, baby, because I have to go and grow,” Goldberg said at the time. “I’ve got stuff to do. I’ve got movies I need to direct, I got books I gotta finish.

“This was great, and I love doing it, but you know, it’s been a while.”
