Rap artist Chris Brown is back in the headlines once again. This time, court documents have been filed alleging that Brown is responsible for more than $3 million in pain and suffering.
The legal documents were filed by Sha’Keir Duarte, the cousin of singer Frank Ocean, over the massive brawl outside a recording studio in January.
The documents filed by Duarte claims one of Brown’s entourage brutally assaulted him during the melee between Chris, Frank, and their friends in West Hollywood.
According to TMZ, Duarte – who filed the lawsuit in August – itemized his list of damages in the court documents:
*$1,000,000 for pain, suffering and inconvenience
* $1,000,000 for emotional distress
* $1,000,000 for punitive damages
* $60,000 for medical expenses
Meanwhile, Brown, 24, is seeking unspecified damages in a countersuit filed against Duarte last month, accusing him of instigating the fight by pushing, kicking and punching the singer, and threatening to kill him.
This is not the first time Ocean and Brown have been involved in conflict. Last July, Brown was forced to deny aiming a homophobic slur towards Ocean when asked his opinion on the star. He denied making the comments on his Twitter page, posting: “My opinion on the whole Frank Ocean subject is …Love who u wanna love. It’s ur decision. People stop searching for BS.”
Brown is currently undergoing a court-ordered 90-day stint at a live-in rehabilitation center to focus on his anger issues.
