Ben Affleck Finally Responds to Batman Backlash

Ben Affleck has finally responded to the mass criticism surrounding him being cast as Batman in 2015′s “Batman vs. Superman” movie, after nearly one month of silence. While Affleck was making an appearance on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” to promote his new movie “Runner Runner,” Fallon asked the actor about the big role he was undertaking. The “Argo” actor spoke about how excited he was, and meeting with director Zack Snyder. He also addressed how he dealt with the outcry, mentioning that Warner Bros. actually prepared him for the backlash.

The announcement of Affleck’s role as Batman came on Aug. 22nd. According to The Hollywood Reporter, reactions to his casting ran the gamut from excitement to sarcasm:

(“WTF! Ben Affleck is Batman?! That’s genius,” actor Josh Gad tweeted) to poking fun (“Really looking forward to seeing Affleck bring the depth and gravitas to Batman that he brought to Daredevil and Gigli,” actor Wil Wheaton tweeted).”

The “Batman vs. Superman” movie is scheduled for a July 17, 2015, release. In the clip below, Affleck begins talking about the film around the 1:43 mark.
