Say What? LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony on Same Team in 2014?

Dwight Howard has left and Kobe Bryant is coming off an Achilles injury, but that hasn’t deterred the Lakers from coming up with an ambitious plan.

According to Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com, the LA Lakers are hoping to make a run at New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony and two-time defending NBA champion LeBron James of the Miami Heat when they become free agents next offseason.

Both players have the option to seek new contracts after the 2013-14 season. It is unknown whether James or Anthony will consider that, but there is no question that they would be the two biggest prizes on the market.

James and Anthony are among the league’s most decorated players and there’s a lot a basketball to be played until then. Time will tell if the two stars will ever be seen wearing the same team’s jerseys.
