Get You Skin Ready For Spring: Exfoliants Hiding in your Kitchen

Spring is right around the corner and while you’ve been working hard at the gym (hopefully) to get ready for warmer weather, you may have been neglecting your skin.

Every lady still needs some silky, smooth and blemish free skin to go along with that bikini bod, but we aren’t all ready to pay those spa prices to have even our deepest pores cleansed.

The solution? Turn your kitchen into a spa! More than likely you already have everything you need. Some of the best exfoliants are lying around in your kitchen right now and they are all you need to get your skin ready for the spring.

Don’t through away those seeds just yet! This is a great way to recycle and give yourself an inexpensive spa treatment. Many of the fruit seeds that we spit out and throw away can actually be ground up and made into a natural exfoliate. Experts recommend using blackberry and raspberry seeds and even adding some ground almonds into the mix as well. Make sure you puree the ingredients as finely as possible to prevent hurting yourself because this creation is going on your face. Massage the homemade exfoliate into your skin in circular motions and you’ll be well on your way to silky smooth skin.

Is there anything baking soda can’t do? Baking soda has so many uses that it may be giving the peanut a run for its money. We’ve all heard of brushing our teeth with it and even cleaning around the house or just keeping food fresh – well the miracle powers of basking soda are perfect for your skin as well. This is actually the secret ingredient in many of the salon products you break the bank for. Just add a pinch or two to your daily facial cleanser and suddenly that Great Value brand face wash is good enough to be sitting in the spa at Chateau Elan.

Salt isn’t as bad as you think. When you’re a teenager fighting off the zits and pimples that come with those awkward high school years, your parents always told you to put down the salt right? Well we’re telling you to pick it back up… just don’t eat it this time. Instead scrub your face with a sea salt mix in the morning. All it takes is a lot of salt and a little warm water and your pores will be spotless in no time.

A sweet sweet solution: Honey. Unprocessed honey can be your skin’s dream come true. It has a lot of anti-bacterial benefits that can give you the skin you’ve always wanted. This is another simple ingredient you can add to products you already own just to give it a boost. Not to mention it’s a great way to get that sweet honey scent in your face wash without being chased down by bees once you step outside. The natural remedy reduces skin inflammation and helps repair your skin in addition to serving as a layer of protection.

Yogurt: A great snack and exfoliate. If you have been stressing about getting in shape for spring there is no doubt you have tons of this lying around in your kitchen. Yogurt is often the go to snack when dieters are craving something creamy, sweet and delicious. Well now that go to snack can double as your go to skin care treatment. Yogurt is packed with lactic acid which is found in most prescription skin care treatments. All you have to do is mix the creamy goodness in with some milk and apply it to any part of your body that you want to make smoother and softer. After all, what good is getting a bikini body if it feels like sandpaper when anyone tries to touch it? Let the yogurt sit for 20 minutes and you’ll be baby soft in no time.
