In the most recent issue of Vibe Vixen, Evelyn Lozada said that while she’s definitely learned a lot during 2012, she’s still going to be her. “Listen, I’m not ever in life going to do some of the things I did last season, but I’m still going to be me. You don’t ever know what will come out of my mouth,” she told the magazine. What that means for Basketball Wives fans, Chad Johnson and the public at large is anyone’s guess.
Last year was a tough one for Lozada. Her wedding special; which was to air on Vh1, was canceled after a nasty domestic violence incident with her husband of two months. Evelyn claimed that during a heated argument, Johnson attacked her by head butting her. She filed for divorce after the violent altercation.
Since the divorce, rumors have erupted that the once married couple were working on a reconciliation after a video of the pair holding hands surfaced on YouTube in Jan 2013. However, Lozada was quick to shut those rumblings down, saying: “While at the dinner (for Chad Johnson), several photos popped up on the Internet of Chad and I holding hands, while in the process of blessing the food. The blogs made last night seem as though we walked hand and hand into the restaurant announcing a reunion, which wasn’t the case.”
In order to focus on healing and rebuilding her life while putting the whole Chad Johnson fiasco in perspective, Evelyn took to the couch of life coach Iyanla Vanzant on her show ‘Iyanla: Fix My Life.” Although Vanzant said the episode was tapped before the divorce, there were clearly some anger issues that the ‘Basketball Wives’ bully needed to work through.
In her latest interview, Lozada says her past is her past and she’s determined to move forward. She credits her daughter with helping ease her anxiety after the domestic violence incident. Evelyn said, “She’s (her daughter) been with me since the day of, and for three months, we were together. I was having anxiety, so I slept next to her; we were connected at the hips. She stepped up to do things that I mentally didn’t want to do.”
Of course, fans will be the judge of just how much the bad girl of ‘Basketball Wives’ has changed. The cast has begun taping season 5. Let’s hope the events of 2012 changed for her better.
