In the new biographical film, jOBS, actor Ashton Kutcher portrays the masterfully creative, Steve Jobs. The film will make its worldwide premiere on the closing night of the Sundance Film Festival, January 27, but won’t hit U.S. theaters until April.
With the newly struck deal, Open Road Films will release jOBS on behalf of producer Mark Hulme’s, Five Star Feature Films, which will put forward the marketing money. Hulme seems eager about the new partnership, stating, “We set out to find the perfect partners to present jOBS to audiences worldwide, and we feel we have found one with Open Road. They were as impressed as we were with Ashton Kutcher’s inspiring and unforgettable performance as Steve Jobs and are excited to distribute the picture in the U.S.”
Tom Ortenber, Open Road Films CEO also seems genuinely excited about the film saying, “jOBS is certain to resonate with audiences, and we are thrilled to partner with Five Star Feature Films to bring this film to theaters.”
The feature film stars Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs, chronicling his life from his college dropout days through with his forlorn fight with cancer. Dermot Mulroney (New Girl), Josh Gad (1600 Penn), Lukas Haas (Inception), J.K. Simmons (The Closer) and Matthew Modine (The Dark Night Rises) also star in the upcoming feature film.
Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) directs jOBS, while the writer, Matthew Whitely, is new to the feature film business.
