No love lost? The fallout of Katy Perry and Rihanna over Chris Brown

Chris Brown, Rihanna and…Katy Perry? No, it’s not another love triangle reminiscent of the one involving Karrueche Tran, Chris Brown and Rihanna. Those are, however, the three players in what seems to be another chapter in the drama of Rihanna and Chris: A love story, part 2. It has been reported that Katy Perry is concerned about Rihanna reuniting with Chris Brown; and as long as they are together, Perry has decided to pull away from her friendship with Rihanna.

The two have always had a close relationship as shown when Rihanna came to the aid of Perry, the three-time Billboard Music Award winner, during her separation and subsequent divorce from comedian Russell Brand. Reports of a rift began to surface around Halloween, as Perry was noticeably absent from Rihanna’s huge Halloween party, that she was upset over the reunion between the Brown and Rihanna.

Katy Perry’s distance from the Brazilian megastar has some worried that she may not have any close friends left to lean on, in the event that her rekindled relationship with Brown tanks. According to an inside source, the alleged rift between these pop divas may be the result of Rihanna secluding herself from Perry, and not the other way around.

“When Chris is messing her around she loses all interest in normal life,” the friend continued. “She doesn’t look after herself and she acts out. She’s always on edge, texting Chris constantly – it’s like there’s no one else in the world who she’ll listen to.”

Rihanna certainly has other things she could do to keep her mind off the endless string of triangles involving Chris Brown. She is just days away from her 777 tour; which will kick off in the United Kingdom on November 14, 2012. In just seven days, the singer will travel seven countries to perform one show in each, or seven shows total; hence the name 777. Her new album, “Unapologetic”, features a new track with her Grammy Award winning on again, off again beau Brown.

Anyone who has ever had a friend in a bad relationship can relate to Perry. What may be best for Rihanna right now is a friend who will say little of their disdain over her reunion with Brown publicly, but continue to be there for their friend privately. In fact, experts in the field of domestic violence suggest that friends remain open, caring and careful not to bash the abuser, while remaining honest at all times. They suggest in situations like one unfolding with Chris Brown and Rihanna, that friends remain patient and helpful.

“Be patient. Trying to force her to break up with him for good means you’re taking control — and that’s what her boyfriend is doing. And know that it can take seven to nine tries before a woman leaves an abusive partner for good, says Diane Lass, Ph.D., who treats domestic violence victims.”

Instead of Perry taking a hardline stance against her friend, she could find a way to be there for her without being directly involved in this round of drama. However, if Rihanna’s upcoming album title “Unapologetic” is any indication, these pop divas may be at odds for a while as this saga continues to play out.
