Lance Armstrong Leaves Livestrong AND Nike

Things aren’t looking too hot for the world’s most well known cyclist, Lance Armstrong.

While Armstrong isn’t directly a Hollywood actor, he’s been mingling with the A-list ElIn an article released by The Hollywood Reporter, Armstrong was recently fired from his contract with Nike. The coveted sports brand stated “due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him.” This is coming on the heels of Armstrong’s recent announcement he would no longer fight the U.S. Anti Doping Agency’s crusade against him. He wasn’t directly admitting he was doping, but the fact he didn’t fight the stripping of his titles and banning from racing ever again is a little suspicious to me. Don’t worry about Armstrong’s financial situation though, he was able to earn 17.5 million from Nike in 2005. Well that is unless he’s spent it all on lawyers and covering up his doping, but who really knows?

The cyclist also ‘voluntarily’ stepped down as chairman of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, an organization he founded in 1996 to raise money for cancer research. As seen in the LA Times, Armstrong explains “to spare the foundation any negative effects as a result of controversy surrounding my cycling career, I will conclude my chairmanship” and named Vice-Chairman Jeff Garvey as his replacement.

While Armstrong, his doctors, and his lawyer continue to deny, deny, deny it seems like the people have given up on the once lauded championship cyclist. There is simply too much evidence mounting against Armstrong for the public to turn a blind eye.
