Anthony Hopkins' 'Hitchcock' To Open AFI Fest 2012

will see it’s world premiere on Nov. 1st  officially opening the AFI FEST 2012. The screening and gala will be held at Hollywood’s historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. The film release is notably set for Nov. 23, ensuring Oscar contention eligabilty.

 Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins, renowned Hollywood king of creepy, headlines the Fox Searchlight drama in his portrayal of the iconic director. The film is directed by Sacha Gervasi and showcases an illustrious cast including Helen Mirren, Toni Colette, and Scarlett Johannson.

 The adapted screenplay written by John J. McLaughlin, based on Stephen Rebello’s book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, takes on a behind-the-scenes narrative of his relationship to wife and partner Alma Reville.

 AFI President and CEO Bob Gazalle attested to it’s proud history with the legendary director: “We are honored to celebrate his lasting legacy with the World Premiere of Hitchcock– a bloody valentine to his creative genius and the inspired woman at his side.”
