Katy Perry arrived at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City for the premiere of the animated comedy The Smurfs looking quite smurfalicious. From her new golden blond hair, shinny blue pumps, matching eye makeup, smurfy nails and a bedazzled short dress; Katy playfully displayed Smurfette exactly as her animated character.
Perry was clearly excited about her voice over premiere as she tweeted;
“Headed to SMURF VILLAGE for the premiere of The Smurfs!!! I’m SMURFETTE!!! I’m blue… aba de aba die aba de aba di aba de aba di! YAY!”
But just the day before, the music world was struck by the tragic death a soulful singer Amy Winehouse. The sad news hit home for Katy Perry who is married to actor Russell Brand. Brand has openly discussed his sobriety and the effort to stay on the path of recovery. While promoting her film, Katy took some time to express just how close to home the news hit.
“My heart felt really sad. My husband, who’s been clean and sober for almost nine years, you know, I — I see him working a program and working on himself every single day. And I see how much work it takes to be clean and sober when you have, you know, addiction on your hands. So … it gave me a real — a gratefulness for my husband, who got clean when he was 27. And I feel really sad and I just hope she finds peace.”
Russell Brand also wrote a heartfelt open letter to his friend Amy Winehouse on his website. You can catch Katy Perry in The Smurfs this weekend.
