Rihanna's Man Down Video Receives Harsh Criticism From Parent TV Council

Rihanna’s “Man Down” video has received some harsh criticism from the Parent Television Council. I can’t say I’m particularly surprised that Rihanna has garnered some criticism for her “Man Down” video. The video deals with the sensitive topic of rape and how the victim deals with the outcome of the assault. Rihanna expresses remorse for her actions in the lyrics of the song for taking the life of her attacker but others thing it’s not enough.

Rihanna tweeted after the premiere of the video on BET

“Its #Gritty #GULLY #Emotional #JAMRock Very strong underlying message 4 girls like me! #listentoyomama.”

The PTC stated,

“In my 30 years of viewing BET. I have never witnessed such a cold, calculated execution of murder in prime time. If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop.”

What do you think of the Parent Television Council criticism of Rihanna’s Man Down video?

The video is a disgrace, and our children should not be exposed to bloody murder continuously through the videos.

  2. dana says:

The reggae singing is worse than the video. She can’t sing reggae

i dont know what BLACK fool is behind this NO TALENT, NASTY person bombarding our airwaves, but I am sick of seeing our talented young ladies shunted aside to give this fool the limelight. FOR WHAT!!! dumbing down black talent will only lead to a return of WHITE PERFORMERS DOMINATING the music industry. Black entertainers have ALWAYS had to be twice as good as White ones to have a long successful career. I will be so glad when the political climate changes, hopefully with this next election.

BET HAD THE NERVE TO PUT THIS FOOL IN THE R&B CATEGORY WHEN IT IS OBVIOUS HER SONGS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH R&B
