Why Is Karlie Redd's Age Important?

Karlie Redd’s Age – The topic of Karlie Redd’s age seemed to eat up the first 15 minutes of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s reunion thanks in part to  K. Michelle and Mona Scott.

What’s the deal with Karlie Redd’s age? In an ignorant spewl of nearly two minutes K. Michelle likened Redd’s age to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Harriett Tubman – that was not a typo.

S2S magazine believes they have narrowed down on Karlie’s age based through the age of her daughter on an interview with Benzino’s, her former love interest on LAHH.

Me and Karlie are two grown ups, and both of us have grown children.. “She has a grown daughter.”The hip-hop publishing mogul revealed that he’s got three kids between the ages of 9 and 19 years old, and he let it slip that Karlie’s daughter is in her teens as well.”Karlie’s daughter I think is about 17 years old. She just graduated from high school,” Benzino revealed.

Another gossip site claims to have a photo of Karlie’s daughter and she’s 18 years old. According the reality star’s Twitter feed she’s considering a lawsuit. “I feel sorry for that poor Lil girl and her parents for getting exploited by the media. That’s not my daughter. Bossip get your facts right!”

On the other hand the reality star is adding to the speculation by claiming to be in her twenties.

“Do I look like I’m 50? …don’t listen to K Michelle. K Michelle don’t know what the f*ck she’s talking about. I’m in my twenties, and as an entertainer you don’t tell your age. She [K Michelle] just had to say something because I was coming at her.”

There is lesson here for both women. Whatever age Karlie Redd is, current speculation lies at 41 years old (based on claiming to be 29 on a show dated in 2000) she needs to embrace it. As writer Denene Millner of ByBrownBaby states

“…women in the forties are more secure, together, established, independent, focused and effing fly. We’re smarter. More confident. Sexier. And that, “I don’t give a damn what you think” attitude you get?

The. Best. Thing. Ever.

Think 40 is old and washed up? Say that to Mary J. Blige. Halle Berry. Angela Bassett. Salma Hayek. Jennifer Lopez. Jada Pinkett Smith. Diahann Caroll. Ruby Dee. First Lady Michelle Obama.

So Karlie Redd should do herself a favor and accept her age and everyone else, especially K. Michelle should move on.
