Jennifer Lopez, 42, is the quintessential of class and professionalism as she proved hours after being served with divorce papers from soon-to-be-ex husband Marc Anthony; the American Idol judge showed up ready to work without strain.
And showed up she did—in a black leather and mesh curve-loving bandage dress flanked by her male counterparts, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. The fierce look was completed with flawless makeup, a shiny cuff, black stilettos, a high-sleek ponytail with flowing tresses down the back, and a message-filled gold necklace scribed ‘love’.
While the “Dance Again” singer and her estranged husband of nine months announced their separation back in July, neither made a move on an actual divorce until Anthony filed on Wednesday at Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences with an unlisted separation date.
Anthony, who is also Lopez’s “Q’Viva! The Chosen” reality show co-host, is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the once-happy couple’s twins, Max and Emme, 4, and asks the court to deny their mother any spousal report if she requests, according to People magazine.
The move to finalize their seven-year marriage seems abrupt especially since their separation has been nine months in the making. Although Marc, 43, has been reportedly dating Shannon De Lima, the constant chatter of J Lo’s hot, twenty-something beau, Casper Smart (not to mention soon after their announced split), barely compares to the incessant hoopla surrounding his ex’s love life. And she did just drop thousands on Casper’s surprise birthday dinner and new pickup truck. Could that have been the final straw?
“I’m sure Jennifer is handling things fine,” Skylar Laine, an American Idol contestant said. “She’s Jennifer Lopez, she can do what she wants!”
